Lao Pu, also named Bai Jinhai, Gardener Lao Bai. He was born in 1955 in Beijing.

His paintings mostly take vegetables, fruits, birds and flowers as subjects. He is quite different from common bird-and-flower painters on choice of subjects and how to depict the subjects. He can integrate his affections for nature and homeland into a unique artistic aesthetic world. His brushwork tends to be simple, refreshing and elegant. He upholds the simple and moderate Golden Mean philosophy. He stresses expressiveness in realistic style.   

Experiences:

1982  graduated in Chinese painting from Central Academy of Fine Arts.

2002  enrolled in two-year doctoral class of Central Academy of Fine Arts.

2004  graduated from 1st traditional Chinese painting doctoral seminar of Central Academy of Fine Arts and studied from Zhang Lichen.

2005~  painter and Director of Office of Teaching Affairs of Rong Bao Zhai Academy of Painting
